"Named after my best mate Barclay apparently! Without doubt the best banking stock around, I know people go on about how amazing Lloyds is going to be... when exactly? It's in my pawtfolio as a solid, no risk steady riser - I'll be happy with £5 a share come 2025!" - Nettles.
"This is my golden egg, lottery ticket, Leicester winning the 2015-2016 Premier League at 5000/1... RR always seemed cheap to me for what is essentially the UK's number one innovation and tech company. They spent a fortune on R&D over the last 10 years and they're now in a position to sit rightfully on that throne of gold whilst others try to emulate their innovations. Their SMRs alone make this the UK's equivalent to Tesla. £7 close in Feb 2025 making this a 70bln Market Cap company... at least!" - Nettles.
"I love Saino's! The chap who lives in my house likes Waitrose, the chapess likes Aldi - I take the middle road.
Always interesting to hold for buy-out news but I mainly hold for the long term - it's a great company servicing a huge demographic. My top choice for a supermarket share (And their smoked salmon is bloody amazing!)" - Nettles.
"Now then, be honest, have you heard of this one before now? What a find this was! The chant is simple; 'What do we want? FRESH FOOD. Who do we want to make it? BAKKAVOR!... as long as they throw in a crab stick or two'. Investement strategy on this was to get it low when lockdown happened and then reap the rewards when everyone went back to work and got their Bakkavor lunch (probably without even knowing they produced it). Good vibes recently with massive recruitment drive. Still not too late to get involved in this one." - Nettles.
"I may not know much about climate change, but I do know when I see a company trying to change because of climate change. BP showed their cards when they purchased the offshore sites from the Crown Estate in 2021 to provide massive wind farms. They paid well over the odds in the closed bid process. Some say it was foolish, I say it was street smart. I'll back BP in their pursuit of a cleaner business model all the way. This could be the big boy come 2025. £10 a share maybe?" - Nettles.
"I like a nice warm place to sleep and what better than a nicely insulated roof? I got into these when I thought we were coming out of lockdown. A lot of the chatter I was hearing was the inability to source decent building materials. Very happy with the gain so far but I do expect a lot more in the future.
Still a very good entry price if you share the optimisim in the house building sector as I do." - Nettles.
"Hmmm. Possibly the let down of my whole Pawtfolio so far, and I really don't understand it. Market Cap currently at 6.3bln based on 175p share price. Why isn't this double by now? Building opportunites are massive, this should be 10bln Market Cap. That chap who lives in my house has had the opportunity to frequent the TW new builds on various sites and not only are they amazing properties, they are over sold. They can't build them quick enough! That said, I don't see a massive upgrade this close to the end of lockdown so maybe I read this one wrong? Mismanagement maybe? I can't work this one out, as you've probably noticed... watch this space!" - Nettles.
"I loved my timing on this one and I'll tell you why. It was obvious (to me anyway) the Yellow School Bus (USA) was going to be sold for reasons of balancing the books. It was obvious (to me anyway) that major share holders wouldn't be happy with the move (at whatever price to be honest).
It was obvious (to me anyway) that the major shareholder who managed to get rid of the CEO would then also be asked to depart with a buy back option - I said it wouldn't be more than £1 (it was £1.05 in the end). The rest of us can enjoy nice divs and a healthy SP moving forward. It was obvious to me, because I'm Nettles... a cat! FGP is now a perfect team member of my pawtfolio." - Nettles.
"I want to tell you I had a vision Bernard Michael Aylward (Kodal CEO) with a loyal Sherpa by his side, touring the African plains in search of mining sites to the sound of an adventurous John Williams soundtrack half as good as Indiana Jones... and that's the only reason I took a massive punt on Kodal.
Alas, that was only 97.5% of the reason. I also started seeing these electric cars on the road. The chap who lives in my house told me they ran off Lithium batteries. I pawed 'Lithium Mining' into that Google thing, and I was soon an investor in Kodal. By far the best performing stock so far - can it continue?" - Nettles.
"I read a couple of things when I was looking over the shoulder of that chap that lives in my house as he managed to Google Kier Group. The fact that Kier is the number one go to for new build projects for the goverment made me leap over his shoulder and press buy. The fact their portfolio is pretty awesome also helped. We did get to around 130p pretty quick so I'm guessing this slump is nothing more than Covid worry.
A massive growth company coming out of Covid though. I think a £5 sell in 2025 is reasonable." - Nettles.
"Never buy a share when you're full of Salmon - that's what my uncle, Rabbit Warren Buffett installed in me at a young age. So what do I do? I see Copper prices rising and I get that chap who lives in my house to buy AT THE PEAK!. I didn't want to miss out and so all the core investment strategies fell down like unwanted headless mice.
That said, RMM is an exciting share - up 10%, down 10%, up 20%, down 20%... I sometimes wish I had the balls of my cousin 'Dwayne-Day-Trade'... thankfully, I don't. This is gonna be a Kodal massive hit or a Nettles massive tit!"
"I love a cruise! The chap I live with showed me the photos of his cruise of Egypt several years ago - full of cats (statues, real ones, dead ones, ones that looked dead but were probably just resting), too many cats in fact!
Anyway, as with IAG, TUI, RR et al, all travel stocks (at time of writing) are going to flurish from 2022 onward... that includes cruises that I think some have been forgotten about? CCL is heavily tied to it's US counterpart, almost funny seeing a green 8% pre 2:30pm (UK) go to -8% at 2.30pm (UK)! I called 3000p being a reasonable price for 2025. I'm sticking to it!" - Nettles.
"I watched this one for a while - I never liked the fashion side of things (those pants never fitted me - tail got in the way) but I LOVED the food side of the business. I could have got in at about half the price in May 2020 but I wasn't confident enough. I'm now mega confident in this UK benchmark. Aldi looking at a takeover, and I'm guessing there will be a price war? Next to RR, this is my share to top up on in a rather large 'fashion' - see what I did there?"
"It's a travel stock. I love it when that chap that lives in my house...doesn't live in my house for a week or two (he calls it a 'long earned holiday') I call it time without that chap that shares my house!. To be frank with you, TUI, IAG, RR, CCL - they are the only travel stocks I trust right now and I see all of them having massive increases in 2022. The term 'recovery stock' does IAG no justice. It's got the Covid recovery in it's belt but a lot more. No way this won't be £5 come sell date (Feb 2025)." - Nettles.
"We (that chap who hangs around my house and I) played Chess one night (I won) but as we're playing and drinking old fashioned whiskey, we both decided the UK needed to be a service driven entity. No need to compete with far east manufacturing, cheap imports etc, why not export our knowledge?
You are about to learn about the Nettles International Service Idea for a Better UK Economy (NISIBUKE).
The economics totally work here. You sell a service to international markets that hasn't cost the UK a bean - it's you, it's your service, only your time.
You then take that money you earn from international means and you put it into the UK economy (buying cat toys for example, scratch posts, cat nip!). The UK economy is richer. It's a very simple equation we're missing out on here. I'll speak more about this in my monthly newsletter - but Capita are doing something similar - so I'm all in!" - Nettles
"No idea - massive punt. I bit a balloon last year and I went from knowledgable awesome deep voiced Nettles to Sweet little Nettles with an Angel voice. I like Helium. It makes me happy. Great buzz!" - Nettles
